Breaking: Senate votes to override Obama veto of 911 Saudi Arabia Lawsuits

In a first for president Barack Obama, the United States Senate voted nearly unanimously to allow victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks to sue the government of Saudi Arabia for damages.  The Obama administration vehemently opposed the legislation on the basis that the legislation could expose the US to similar suits in other countries.

However, even Democrats broke with President Obama; with the only no vote in the chamber, cast by Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

“I deeply respect the president and the reasons he has given for vetoing the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act ... but I urge my colleagues to move swiftly and soundly to reverse this veto so that these families can have their day in court.” Said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) ahead if the vote.
